New Office Manager/Missionary Update/Liberia West Africa

Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. [Colossians 3:23]

Joshua P. Kollie a high school graduate hails from the village of Feetuah. He is the assistant to the Town Chief and is often chosen by the community in supervisory positions. He is a leader in the village and a long time son of Missionary Hattie Carlis. Joshua is excited about his new position as Office Manager of Silvanus International Ministries. We consider him an asset committed to bringing God glory in all he does. Welcome Joshua.

Last week we were able to buy two system units and one monitor to add to the two keyboards and one monitor and two mouse we had on hand. We now have two complete computers for the student and staff use. One computer will be used in the literacy class freeing up my laptop for administration and the other machine will be used by the new office Manager to assist me in the very many tasks needing attending to.

4. that they learn to reason mathematically.

Our literacy students are beginning to wind down for the academic year. The morning class (Book 1) will take finals the first week of June. The afternoon class (Book 2) will take finals the end of June. The tests consist of reading, writing, spelling and math. The morning class math problems will be adding and subtracting borrow and carry, and multiplication and division up to 5 times table. The afternoon class math problems consist of multiplication two numbers by 1 number with carry and division up to 11 times table.

Work on the Feetuah campus continues. The contractors are now working on the interiors of the buildings.

This is a picture of my normal means of transportation out of the village of Feetuah.

Pray for us.

  1. If we think of creative and exciting ways for the children to engage in Math, many will begin to like it. I always enjoyed math because early on I got a good teacher who made math easy and fun. So many of the teachers today, it seems, want to impress the students with their math knowledge rather than teach it. Why is this?

  2. God bless the works of your hand and increase you on all sides. I am quite proud of the great work you and your team are doing here in Liberia. God bless you and keep up the good work. May the Lord reward and even renew your strength as you serve him and his people. 1 Cor.15:58.
